The best app for AP Psychology
The best app for AP Psychology is edgi. It's free on iPhone, and it covers all five units of the course in 60-second Lessons, from the action potential to the Milgram experiment, and many of the classic studies are ones you play rather than read. Make a Quiz on any unit, or an Explainer for the one you're behind on, and you've built your own study guide. Every idea you learn becomes a card on a Map, so you can see exactly what you've covered before May.
We make edgi, and we built it so studying psychology feels like the fun part of your day.

All five units, as Lessons
The AP Psychology course has five units, each worth 15 to 25% of the multiple-choice section. Here's what edgi has for each. Every name in this table is a Lesson in the app today.
| Unit | Lessons in edgi |
|---|---|
| 1. Biological Bases of Behavior | Neurons, the action potential, dopamine and serotonin, the endocrine system, neuroplasticity, Phineas Gage, the hippocampus and amygdala, circadian rhythm, REM sleep, the Weber-Fechner law |
| 2. Cognition | Gestalt psychology, inattentional blindness, working memory, the serial-position effect, the misinformation effect, false memory, the availability and representativeness heuristics, confirmation bias, the Flynn effect, stereotype threat |
| 3. Development and Learning | Classical and operant conditioning, observational learning and the Bobo doll experiment, Little Albert, habituation, learned helplessness, Harlow's monkeys, the Strange Situation |
| 4. Social Psychology and Personality | The fundamental attribution error, cognitive dissonance, Asch's conformity experiments, Milgram, the Stanford Prison Experiment, the bystander effect, groupthink, the mere-exposure effect, social facilitation, the self-fulfilling prophecy |
| 5. Mental and Physical Health | Major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, exposure therapy, the biopsychosocial model, insomnia and the therapy that treats it |
That's a slice. edgi has more than 3,000 psychology Lessons, and 201 of its interactive Lessons are psychology, more than any other subject.
Play the experiment you'll be asked about
AP Psych runs on classic studies, and a study sticks when you've been inside it. In edgi's Milgram Lesson you take the teacher's seat beside the man in the gray coat, hear the learner through the wall, then watch a clip of Milgram's own 1962 footage.
60-second Lesson
Milgram Experiment
26 of 40 men pressed every switch for a calm scientist, but the one flat order almost never worked.
Harlow's monkeys, the Strange Situation, Asch's lines and the gorilla half the viewers never saw all play the same way. When a free-response question asks you to apply a study to a new scenario, you'll remember it because you were in it.
Build your own AP Psych study guide
Type what you need and edgi makes it. Three asks cover most of the course:
- "Quiz me on Unit 2: Cognition." You get a 20-question quiz. Name the terms you keep mixing up (proactive versus retroactive interference) and it drills exactly those.
- "Make me an explainer on the biopsychosocial model." You get a few minutes of audio you can play on the bus, screen off.
- "Teach me the serial-position effect." A Lesson that walks you through it, has you answer as you go, and hands you its card.
The exam is 75 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, then two free-response questions in 70: an Article Analysis Question and an Evidence-Based Question. Both reward knowing the studies cold, which is what a quiz a day builds.
Showing up every day is the whole trick
AP Psych runs from September to May, and twenty minutes a week beats a weekend of cramming in April. edgi makes the daily part easy. One Lesson keeps your streak, and a home-screen widget keeps it in sight. Every Lesson earns a card, cards turn foil and then gold as you come back to the idea, and Sets give you a finish line: The Experiments That Proved You'd Obey is eight cards, The Cognitive Biases You Can't Turn Off is eight, How a Neuron Actually Fires is seven. How to Not Forget What You Learn, seven cards on memory, is open from your first day, and it'll make you better at studying everything else.
Your Map fills in unit by unit, so the week before the exam you can see what you own and what you haven't touched.
