Is Brilliant free? What the free plan gets you, and a free app with no limit
Brilliant is free only in part: as of September 30, 2026, its free plan gives you two lessons or practice sets a day, taken in course order, with occasional ads, and Premium costs $240 to $360 a year on Brilliant's own site. If you want a free app to learn something new every day, edgi is free: 60-second Lessons on every subject, no daily limit, and every idea you finish becomes a card on a Map of what you know.
We make edgi, and we built it so the only limit on learning is how curious you are.
| App | What it is | Price (US) | Platforms |

Brilliant's free plan, and what Premium costs
Brilliant's Help Center spells it out. Free users get "2 keys per day," and each key opens one lesson or one practice set. Keys reset at midnight in your time zone, and once both are spent "you'll need to wait until the next day to continue." You "must work through courses sequentially," so you can't skip to the lesson you came for. You see "occasional ads" between lessons, and you get a limited preview of Koji, Brilliant's tutor.
Free users still get streaks and Leagues, on the web and on both kinds of phone.
The price on Brilliant's site moves. We loaded its Premium page six times on September 30, 2026. The yearly plan showed $240, $270 or $360, and the monthly plan $30, $45 or $60. The App Store lists Premium purchases from $19.99 to $191.99; the top one is "Brilliant Premium with Tutor."
Free trials come and go. Brilliant's Help Center says it "sometimes offers free trial promotions," and you enter payment details to start one. K-12 teachers and their students can apply for free Premium through Brilliant for Educators.
edgi: free, with no keys
On edgi you never run out. A Lesson takes about 60 seconds and ends with a question or two that make you use the idea. Then the idea is yours: a card in your collection, lit up on your Map next to the ideas it connects to, and the next Lesson is whichever of those you want to know now. The Map holds more than 104,000 ideas, and 44,000 have a Lesson.
Brilliant is math and code. Here's the math idea most people meet through money, playable on this page:
60-second Lesson
Compound Interest
Interest earns interest, so growth starts slow and then turns steep.
On edgi's Map, compound interest connects to the Rule of 72 and to present value, so the next idea is already waiting. Your cards turn foil, then gold, as you learn more around them, and a streak keeps count of your days.
